About Sky

Sky is a watercolor artist who calls the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains her home and her inspiration. Her paintings showcase the beauty of the natural world around her in an atypical yet deeply rooted way, reflecting what it means to love the forest and care about the fate of the world.

Sky lives and creates in the forest, along with her animals, a collection of inappropriate t-shirts, and a love for the natural world.

Her works are featured in private collections across the country, at The Marquee in the River Arts District of Asheville, NC, and in her home studio. For inquiries about commissions or visiting her studio, please email info@skyloraineart.com

Artist Statement

I’ve always been an introspective person, and I have approached my art intuitively and with curiosity.

This incarnation of my art is based on years of experience working in the design and construction trades. An industry that creates more than a billion tons of waste each year piqued my interest in what it would be like to apply watercolor to wood. The love and excitement were immediate and felt sympathetic.

Every piece is created on wood that was once ‘trash’, whether dug from the scrap pile, pulled from the wreckage after Hurricane Helene, or found at the dump. My mission has become my art, my art the mission. To make something beautiful from the cast-offs of the building industry, and provoke a conversation around how the immense amounts of discarded materials in the building industry are killing our forests.
